Flying Y Farm

Our Farm Today

We're in the beginning stages of building our family farm.  Like all good things, we're starting small and building slowly, learning as we go.  What started as a desire for Phil to stay connected to his Texas roots soon began to grow in our minds.  We value the farming way of life and wanted this for our own family; now, we see potential in providing this experience to those who can't live it.

We are currently building our herd.  Right now, we have four mamas and a bull.  These are our "seed stock" longhorns, which we use for shows, exhibition, and education.  We'll be selling our first calves in 2023 and see where that takes us.,

All of our cattle are registered Texas Longhorns with the International Texas Longhorn Association (ITLA). We are Lifetime ITLA & Ohio River Valley Texas Longhorn Association (ORVTLA) members.

In addition to the Longhorns, we recently added a dozen chickens to the farm. We look forward to selling fresh eggs in the near future!

Our Future Farm

(Whole)sale Longhorns:

We plan to continue calf and cattle sales as our mamas continue producing.

"Chophouse" Longhorns:

We will also sell a portion of our cattle for heart healthy lean beef, horns, and hide.  We're loosely aiming for Aug 2024 for these sales.

Shows:

We will continue to have our kids show our longhorns at regional and national events.  You may even see us at local fairs and festivals to further promote the breed.

We hope to be able to share this opportunity with other kids as well, through sponsorship and general educational visits to the farm..

Together

Our Story

After a fast-paced military life, we're finding time to slow down, put down some roots, and raise our kids with good ol' fashioned work ethic.  While we're only in the early stages of our farm, we've already found joy sharing it with others--whether the concept is completely foreign or just not in their cards.  We hope to continue that trend by sponsoring youth and giving back where we can.
